Conferences on various topics currently discussed and studied about globalization

UNGC and Global Governance Public Forum/University Seminar
November 18, 2003
Hosted at The George Washington University

Given the increasing attention that global governance programs, such as the UN Global Compact, are receiving among the general public and among researchers, two consecutive events will be held at George Washington University (GW) on November 18, 2003, to highlight GW stakeholder interest and involvement in these topics and to advance the breadth and depth of scholarship related to them.

This effort continues GW SBPM's effort in advancing environmental and social issues in business as reflected in its recent recognition by the World Resources Institute and Aspen Institute as a world leader in these areas (read more about this event).

Conference on Global and Human Security
September 19-20, 2002
Hosted at The George Washington University

On September 20, 2002 the Globalization Research Network sponsored a conference entitled, "Rethinking Global Human Security," designed to explore various dimensions of the subject and to take first steps in the identification of possible joint interests and projects among the member faculties of the four institutions that comprise the network: the University of California at Los Angeles, the University of South Florida, The George Washington University and the University of Hawaii at Manoa.

Presenters from these institutions focused their attention on four dimensions of human security: issues associated with information technology, infrastructure and privacy; health and global human security; the environment and global human security; and conflict, conflict management and democracy.
