About the GWCSG

GWCSG funds research at GW and promotes public education on the various forces that are driving globalization, the implications of globalization for business strategy and government policy, and the effects of globalization on people's day-to-day lives. The GWCSG works on collaborative research initiatives with the Globalization Research Network to develop new areas of research expertise on globalization.

About the GRN

The Globalization Research Network was established in Spring 2001 as a result of a congressionally directed grant. The Network brings together the University of Hawaii at Manoa, the University of South Florida, the University of California at Los Angeles, and the George Washington University into a collective arrangement that permits each to pursue globalization research while pursuing a particularized area expertise. Each university conducts its own research on various projects and collaborates on research projects and public education activities.

As the centers have become more established the role of the secretariat has developed to perform an increasing number of activities knitting together the efforts of the four universities. The ultimate purpose of the consortium entity is to coordinate the activities of the four centers, to develop economies of application in research by linking researchers of complementary capability and interests, to explore joint projects among the four universities, to combine outreach efforts, especially with respect to the dissemination of globalization data and research findings, and to coordinate fund raising activities of the four centers.
